Vinyards Wegeler (VDP)

premium Rieslings from the best terroirs

Wegeler is one of the most prestigious German vineries. Since the 18th century, royals and VIPs from around Europe enjoyed Wegeler wines. Beethoven was a friend of Wegeler and regularly ordered his bottles there. This has not changed until today: on the left you see Queen Elisabeth II and the German President enjoying a good glas of Wegeler sparkling wine. Today, everyone can afford a bottle of Wegeler wine for the special occasion. The vineyards Wegeler are member of the VDP.

Wegeler has parcels of vines on some of the best vineyards in Germany. In the Mosel, Wegeler owns a large part of the Bernkasteler Doctor, the most expensive German vineyard. Wines from this terroir have one of the best ageing potential of white wines around the world. In the Rheingau, a large number of Wegeler vines grow on prestigious terroirs, which are all declared "Große Lage", equivallent to Grand Cru vineyards in France.

Wegeler's passion is dedicated to the arguably most amazing and most demanding white wine grape of the world, the Riesling. No other grape produces as complex and versatile wines as the Riesling. The spectrum of wines a winegrower can make from Riesling grapes goes from basic range to premium quality, from crisp and young to a hundred years old, and from seriously dry to ultimately sweet.

Wegeler's wines regularly achieve top scores in international wine competitions. Wegeler also has a large selection of outstanding and very rare vintage wines, reaching decades back. If you are interested, contact us for a list of those delicacies.

The vineyards of Wegeler are located in Oestrich-Winkel in Rheingau and in Bernkastel at the Mosel:
