Vineyard Gut Hermannsberg (VDP)

first-class Grand Cru wines from the Nahe

Gut Hermannsberg is an outstanding vineyard producing numerous world-class Rieslings with very different characteristics. The vineyard profits from unique vineyards with varying soils. Plenty of time is given to each plant and each wine on the vineyard and in the cellar. Gut Hermannsberg is member of the VDP.

The estate was founded in 1902 by the Prussian State. In a gruelling job, steep, craggy and rocky land including a former copper mine has been rebuilt into a prime vineyard. Today, all vineyards of the estate are classified as Großes Gewächs (Grand Cru) sites, the Hermannsberg and the Traiser Bastei amongst others. They rank among Riesling's best wine-growing areas in Germany and the world.

The vineyards of Gut Hermannsberg have very different soils, including volcanic eruptive stone, rhyolite rubble, slate and loam. Whether estate Riesling, local Rieslings or Grosse Gewächse (grands crus), whether light and fresh, with a high minerality and spicy or powerful and elegant, Gut Hermannsberg has the right Riesling for every wine lover.

To ensure wines that are produced in harmony with nature, extremely time-consuming leaf work is conducted in the vineyard, as well as using home-made compost. In the cellar, grapes from each vineyard plot is vinified separately to maintain the different characters of the plots within one site, preserving the authenticity of each wine.
