Albert Kallfelz has promoted his family vineyards to one of the leading Riesling producers worldwide. Spoiled by countless national and international wine trophies, he never yielded the temptation to up the very fair prices for his wines. He follows a clear philosophy: “Wines from an individualist for individualists”.
In Kallfelz’ vineyards, his Rieslings get everything they need:
- slate soils are resulting in the magnificent minerality of the vines
- steep hills along the Mosel river which receive plenty of heat and sun ensure an optimal sugar ripeness of the grapes
- cold nights and morning guarantee the development of complex, elegant flavours
The perfect symbiosis of soils, climate, the Riesling grape and a lot of careful labour result in unique Rieslings. Kallfelz wines have a very intense minerality, while being light, refreshing and fruity. In opposition to other Mosel vintners, Kallfelz keeps acid levels in his wines low, ensuring very agreeable wines.
The quality of his wines receives national and international applaus:
- 3 times winner international Riesling Grand Prix
- Gold at the 2013 Riesling du Monde competition in Strasbourg
- Several gold medals at the Mundus Vini wine competition

A very good Riesling for the every day consumption. The grapes grow on steep slate hills. The wines have an intense minerality. You will taste green apple and citrus fruit. This Riesling is aromatic and has an elegant fruitiness. It is a good wine to accompany your meals, such as fish, chicken and salads.

This is a very powerful, fruity and refreshing Riesling. As a Hochgewächs and selection wine, it follows highest quality criteria. This results in a very round, balanced and elegant wine, full of complex flavours. Fresh minerality complements the fruity flavours of pears, peaches and lemon. The wine has a very long and impressive finish.

As a Hochgewächs and selection wine, it goes through high quality checks, ensuring an absolutely faultless wine. This Riesling combines youthful freshness and a full body. Kallfelz 2011 Riesling Urgestein Merler Fettgarten selection sweet
The Urgestein is the top wine of the Kallfelz vineyards. It is made from grapes grown on the very steep Merler Fettgarten slopes. It has the perfect aspect to the sun and it profits from the slate soils and scrupulous selection of grapes. The vinification of this wine receives the fullest dedication of the vintner in the historic cellar of the vineyard. This outstanding Riesling is full of concentrated minerality, complemented by noble fruit aromas. The sweetness is very well balanced by accidity, resulting in a rich, complex and very dense wine. The Urgestein wines are only created in the very best vintages. This wine received the rarely awarded Golden Price of the DLG (German Food association).
